From Antwerp, Hull and Gijon to Georgetown, Paramaribo, Point Lisas, Matanzaz/Puerto Ordaz and back to Rotterdam. For over 35 years, Europe Caribbean Line (ECL) has been providing this service, also known as the South Caribbean Service.

Ocean freight

The South Caribbean Service is a monthly freight service for bulk cargo, steel, rolling stock, yachts and break bulk. The Reefer service, ECL’s other scheduled service, departs from Dover and Vlissingen every 2 weeks, heading to the ports of Paramaribo and Georgetown.  In fact, this service is the fastest overseas connection between those countries and has been around for over 35 years.

Arranging transport

How do you use our scheduled service? First of all, you call us or send us an e-mail with the following information: what do you want to ship, where is the cargo at this time, how heavy is your cargo and where should it go?

We then prepare a tailored shipping plan and draw up a quote. If you agree, we discuss which ship would be best. We will also explore which parts of the process you would like to handle yourself and what we can do for you. If you wish, we can handle the entire process for you, from A to Z.

Cargo types

No matter the size of your cargo, we transport everything in bulk except for radioactive substances and liquids. We have a suitable solution for all shipping demands. We mainly specialise in rolling stock, project cargo, steel cargo, bulk cargo and pallet transport. We always try to load all cargo as efficiently as possible, striving to fill every last nook & cranny.

Does your cargo have to come from Morocco, China or Japan first? No problem. Thanks to our flexibility and efficient methods, we can collect cargo all across the world, transporting it to the point of departure of the ECL service. We have a departure every 4 weeks. If you book on time, there is always space.
